• Students must register online and pay the audition fee in advance.
• Parents may escort dancers to the lobby but are not allowed to observe auditions.
• Dancers are auditioning to participate in the production, not for a specific role. Roles will be assigned based on the Artistic Staff’s discretion. Please DO NOT audition if you are not willing to accept the role assigned to you.
Rehearsals
• Begin February 1, 2025.
• Held every Saturday at Jax City Ballet School.
• Group rehearsals run through June 6, 2025, with dress rehearsal on June 7, 2025.
Attendance and Conduct
As Jax City Ballet’s Coppélia production is a professional performance, attendance at all rehearsals and practices is essential. Cast members are allowed a maximum of three excused absences, which must occur prior to May 1, 2025.
If a cast member exceeds the allowed absences or is unable to meet attendance requirements, the Artistic Staff reserves the right to reassign the cast member’s role(s) to another dancer.
The Children’s Cast plays a vital role in the performance. We expect all Children’s Cast members to demonstrate respectful and courteous behavior at all times, both during rehearsals and on performance day.
Frequently Asked Questions:
My child has auditioned for the performance, has been accepted, but would like to decline their participation/role. Is there a penalty?
Yes, there is a penalty. Replacing your child’s role takes valuable time away from the production process. If your child declines their role after being accepted, they will not be permitted to audition for the next season’s performance or any other Jax City Ballet productions.
How do I register for auditions?
To register for auditions, visit the Audition Registration page at www.JaxCityBallet.org and follow the instructions provided.
How do I get answers to my questions?
You can reach Jax City Ballet by email at info@jaxcityballet.org.
Stay connected with us:
• Like us on Facebook and follow us on Instagram.
• Download the BAND App and join Jax City Ballet for quick updates.
Throughout rehearsals and performances, we will send email notifications to ensure all families stay informed about important updates.
What costume items am I responsible for?
You are responsible for providing:
• The appropriate dance shoes and undergarments for your child’s role.
• Proper make-up for the performance.
We provide all costumes; however, students must bring the following:
• Nude leotards (if needed).
• Footed ballet pink tights.
• Pink ballet canvas slippers (tights and shoes must match in color).
Additional footwear or specific clothing (e.g., pants or socks for boys) may be required based on the role.
How will I find out about my dancer’s part?
Casting results will be posted by audition number on our website at www.JaxCityBallet.org after auditions. An email notification will also be sent when casting is available.
How do I get updates and information?
All updates will be emailed and shared on our social media pages. If you have questions, please feel free to contact us at any time.
If I am not volunteering, can I wait with my child backstage?
No, there will be designated volunteers serving as chaperones for the student cast members. Dancers will share dressing rooms, ensuring they have plenty of company. Please drop your child off in the dressing room and inform the chaperone of any important information they should know.
How much are tickets to performances?
Ticket prices vary depending on seat location.
Do you film the performances?
Yes, performances are professionally filmed. Dancers and families can purchase a digital download of the performance.
How many rehearsals can my child miss?
Cast members may miss up to three rehearsals, but we encourage full attendance to ensure the best preparation. Consistent attendance is crucial for learning choreography and spacing with other cast members.
Important:
• Missing mandatory dress rehearsals or in-studio run-through rehearsals will disqualify a dancer from performing.
• Attendance is essential to maintaining the professional standard of the production.
